Filming Wolf Manor and the Thrills of night shoots in Shropshire
Following the highly anticipated world premiere of “Wolf Manor” at Fright Fest in London’s Leicester Square in August, 2022. As co-production partners for this thrilling project, we’re excited to take you on a journey behind the scenes of the film shoot that transformed a small idea into a full-fledged feature movie. From unexpected expansions to eerie night shoots, our adventure in Shropshire brought “Wolf Manor” to life in ways we could never have imagined.
Aerial Magic and Unforeseen Growth. Our involvement in “Wolf Manor” began as aerial filmmakers capturing breathtaking shots of the picturesque landscapes in Shropshire. However, fate had other plans. The project evolved rapidly, blossoming into a full feature film with a script that paid homage to the classic horror masterpiece, “American Werewolf in London.” As co-production partners, our roles expanded beyond the skies, and we embraced this unexpected opportunity to contribute to the project’s creative growth.
The shooting schedule included an intense 14-night shoot during the Easter school holidays. These almost back-to-back night shoots added a thrilling layer of challenge to the production. Embracing the nocturnal atmosphere, our team eagerly plunged into the world of werewolves, suspense, and spine-tingling scenes.
Each member of our team donned multiple hats during the shoot. Carl took on the role of the first assistant director (1st AD), Tom became the second assistant camera (2nd AC), and I, being familiar with production dynamics, stepped in as a production assistant. Our teamwork was crucial in ensuring that every aspect of the production ran smoothly.
Also as the drone pilot, Carl was entrusted with capturing captivating aerial shots that added depth and grandeur to the film’s visuals. I, as the drone spotter, was dedicated to ensuring the safety and precision of each flight. Our aerial footage became an essential part of the film’s aesthetic, merging seamlessly with the on-set scenes.
The heart of the shoot was an old Manor House just outside Ludlow, which served as the primary location for “Wolf Manor.” The production team worked their magic, creating atmospheres that transported the cast and crew to the eerie world of the film. Set design, lighting, and special effects contributed to the creation of a cinematic universe that came to life through the lens.
With a cast and crew of over 24 individuals, “Wolf Manor” became a symphony of talent, passion, and dedication. From James Fleet’s captivating performance to the meticulous work of prosthetic makeup artists, the film’s success was built on the combined efforts of every team member.
As the fortnight of filming concluded, the Wild Edric team had gained not only invaluable experience but also lasting connections. The intense nights of shooting were marked by moments of exhilaration, exhaustion, and camaraderie. With memories forged and creative horizons expanded, we eagerly await the premiere of “Wolf Manor,” where the fruits of our labor will finally be unveiled to the world.
“Wolf Manor” is a testament to the power of collaboration, the allure of creative challenges, and the magic that happens behind the scenes of a film shoot. As co-production partners, our journey from aerial filmmakers to integral members of the production team has been both exhilarating and humbling. We invite you to watch “Wolf Manor” where the culmination of hard work, passion, and dedication is now available to buy or rent on Amazon Prime.
