HCF Blog 3

This is the third blog in our series documenting Wild Edric Media’s collaboration with the Herefordshire Community Foundation (HCF). The team are working with HCF to film a series of interviews with grant recipients highlighting the positive impact the foundation has across Herefordshire.

Petanque Filming.

At Wild Edric Media, no two filming days are ever the same. Last Friday, the Wild Edric Media team ventured into Hereford to film at the West Hereford Petanque Club. The club is based at Hinton Football Club. Although petanque is an all-weather sport, our cameras are less enthusiastic about rain. Thankfully, the weather cleared just as we arrived. To make the most of the dry conditions, we filmed our B-roll footage first before moving on to the interview.

We then moved into the club house, that was built using grant funding from HCF. We set up a single-camera interview with professional lighting and a boom microphone on a pole to record audio. The interview featured Michael Hewitt, Club Chairman, who spoke passionately about the club and its future. We also captured a strong hero shot with Michael and several club members who were in attendance that day.

The West Hereford Petanque Club is a newly formed club offering outstanding social and playing facilities. Currently, the club has 42 members aged between 8 and 80, and it is proudly run by its members.

ECHO Filming.

Yesterday morning we were delighted to join the team at The Priory Centre to film an interview with Mike Cook – Chief Officer of ECHOan independent,  Herefordshire-based charity with most of their activities suitable for people with moderate or severe learning difficulties.

Mike was an excellent interviewee, giving interesting answers and higlighting how the funding from HCF has really impacted the organisation. Then we moved into the craft area to shoot some B-roll filming with the members creating valentines cards. After this we packed up our interview equiptment, we had used two cameras and our large apature lights with soft boxes and used a wireless mic for capture the audio.

Then we moved to one of their other projects – Radio ECHO where members learn about using the equipment – microphones, mixing desk, DJ software and more – as well as improving their IT skills and becoming confident in front of a mic. Here we were treated to a rehearsal of that days show and we were able capture some footage of the group of broadcasters preparing to go on air.

What’s Next?

We only have two inteviews left to do. Tomorrow we are heading back into Leominster to film with Ann Mee from Sassy and then in a coulple of weeks time we have an interview arranegd with Bridie and Robert from the Herefordshire Community Foundation. so the next blog post in this series will come out after bith of these interviews haev taken place.

Once all the interviews have been captured, we will bring everything together into a promotional video for the Herefordshire Community Foundation. The final video will help raise awareness of the incredible work HCF does and show how their grants can support individuals, charities and businesses across Herefordshire.
